We survived the first week of school, and my family’s likely to be staying pretty close to the homestead this weekend to just chill out. But who knows what may happen — we’re spur-of-the-moment types. If you’re in the market for a family-friendly outing, here are a few options:
Do something nice for Mother Nature! Keep Seminole Beautiful is sponsoring a Wekiva River scavenger hunt cleanup at 9 a.m. Just let the folks at the Wekiva Falls entry gate know you’re there for the event and your entrance and canoe fee will be comped out. Address: 30700 Wekiva River Road, Sorrento.
Got a fan of Disney Planes? Bring him to your local Lowe’s home-improvement store at 10 a.m. Saturday (or at 2 p.m. Sunday) to build his own model of El Chupacabra. Click here to check availability of the Build & Grow clinic.
It’s Walmart $5 day at the Orlando Science Center. Be sure to check out the Blue Man Group interactive exhibit, the toddler-fave Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit, and an IMAX movie. In addition to a great time, expect throngs of people taking advantage of the deep discount. Doors open at 10 a.m. Address: 777 E. Princeton Street, Orlando. Phone: 407-514-2000.
